The new Prattville Kindergarten School opens to thrilled students and families, featuring modern amenities and a welcoming atmosphere.

Prattville: The first day at the new Prattville Kindergarten School was filled with joy. Kids were squealing, teachers were hugging, and the excitement was contagious.
When the doors opened at 7:15 a.m., around 450 students rushed in, and the energy was electric. This new school, costing about $30 million, replaces an old building that had been around for over a century.
Located in east Prattville, right next to the Daniel Pratt Elementary School, the new 87,000-square-foot facility is a big upgrade. Parents and kids were buzzing with excitement, and it was clear this was a special day.
Brooke Skeldon, who runs an event company and has a son named Cooper starting school, was busy decorating with balloons. She said, “Everyone is so excited about the new school.” While it’s bittersweet to leave the old one, the new place is just stunning.
The design of the new building even pays homage to the old school, featuring a cupola on the main hall. Each classroom is equipped with smart boards and plenty of tech, plus there are dedicated STEM areas and a kid-friendly library.
Safety was a priority too. The hallways can double as storm shelters, and the classroom doors have windows placed in a way that makes them harder to break into. Plus, there’s hot water in the classrooms, which is a nice touch compared to the old building.
Parents were getting used to a new drop-off routine, and kids were excited to see their friends again after the holiday break. The first day was a bit chaotic, but everyone seemed to be handling it well.
Principal Jodi Womble was busy making sure everything went smoothly, zipping around to address any last-minute issues. It was a whirlwind, but the joy in the air made it all worthwhile.
