KANSAS CITY: Evergy has been recognized for its emergency response efforts in 2024. They snagged two Edison Electric Institute Emergency Response Awards. These awards were for their quick action during the severe storms over Memorial Day weekend that left many in the Kansas City area without power, as well as their recovery work after Hurricane Helene hit the South.

Pat Vincent-Collawn, the interim President and CEO of EEI, praised Evergy for their safe and efficient response to the storm damage. He highlighted how Evergy also stepped up to help neighboring electric companies during tough times. It’s clear that their storm response team truly earned these awards.

Ryan Mulvany, Evergy’s VP of Distribution, shared that 2024 brought some wild weather challenges, including hurricane-strength winds and dangerous heat. Despite these hurdles, their crews worked around the clock to fix the damage and restore power. When Hurricane Helene struck, Evergy quickly mobilized a team to assist in Kentucky and Indiana, even rappelling down mountains to get the job done. They’re proud of the recognition but even prouder to serve their customers in Kansas and Missouri.

A panel of judges selected the winners through an international nomination process.
