JEO Consulting Group, Inc. earns recognition for the innovative Amidon Avenue Bridge in Wichita, enhancing local infrastructure and safety.

The new bridge sees about 16,000 vehicles crossing daily. JEO was the main designer and project manager, and they really brought some cool ideas to the table. They used semi-integral abutments, which are pretty rare in Kansas, to skip the usual expansion joints that often need fixing.
They also added seismic sensors to help figure out the best pile lengths and used alternative materials that kept everything on schedule and saved a ton of cash. Brad Shores, JEO’s senior project manager, said they had a fantastic team and that this bridge adds to Wichita’s legacy of iconic structures.
TranSystems helped with road design and utility coordination, while Terracon took care of the geotechnical work. The award was given in the Structural Systems category, highlighting the innovative approach JEO took with this project.
