Santa Fe: The Empty Stocking Fund, run by the Santa Fe Community Foundation and The Santa Fe New Mexican, has been around for 43 years. It helps folks in need during the holidays, covering things like rent, medical bills, and utility costs.

To qualify, you need to live in Rio Arriba or Santa Fe counties and show proof of identity. They don’t discriminate based on race, age, or gender. Right now, they’ve paused applications because so many people are asking for help.

This year, they aimed to raise $475,000, but requests have already topped $500,000. The fund has been a holiday staple since 1981, making a real difference in the community.

If you want to pitch in, you can donate online at santafecf.org or visit their office. You can also mail your contribution to the Empty Stocking Fund. And if you prefer, you can choose to stay anonymous.

So far, donations have come in from various people and businesses, totaling over $401,000. Every little bit helps, and it’s great to see the community come together for a good cause.
