Elon Musk outlines ambitious plans for DOGE, aiming to reshape federal agencies and cut costs

Musk has been talking about cutting down on federal agencies and even slashing the budget. He’s aiming to save a trillion dollars, which is a huge deal. The plan is to replace the US Digital Service with DOGE, and it’s now based right in the White House.
They want to reduce the federal workforce, but they haven’t said how many jobs will go. There are over 2 million federal employees, so that’s a lot to think about. Musk and his team are also looking to cut regulations and streamline processes.
Interestingly, they’re also planning to hire new people for DOGE, but it seems like they want folks who are super dedicated, willing to work long hours, and maybe even unpaid at first.
Musk has mentioned wanting to get rid of entire agencies, like the Department of Education and the IRS. He’s even hinted at abolishing daylight-saving time and getting rid of the penny.
The goal is to make all these changes by July 4, 2026, which is the 250th anniversary of the nation. It’s a lot to take in, and it’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out.
