Actress Elizabeth Chambers expresses frustration over the LA fires, claiming officials failed to act swiftly enough during the crisis.
In a chat with Fox News Digital, Chambers, 42, didn’t hold back when asked if city officials did enough. She said, “I think it was a disaster.” She believes no one was prepared for the scale of the fires.
Chambers also mentioned Rick Caruso, a billionaire developer and former mayoral candidate. She pointed out that while he saved Palisades Village, he had the same time as everyone else to prepare. “It’s eerily untouched,” she said.
She described the scene in Palisades Village, saying it felt like Disneyland while everything around it was in ruins. Chambers was clear that the response from officials wasn’t quick or effective enough.
Caruso, who ran against Karen Bass for mayor in 2022, criticized the city for its lack of water supply during the fires. He called it “absolute mismanagement” and emphasized that it wasn’t the firefighters’ fault.
The fires broke out on January 7, forcing many residents to evacuate as homes and businesses were lost. Sadly, over 30 people are still missing, and the death toll has reached 27.
Chambers shared her own experience of evacuating with her kids. She quickly packed important items like passports and family photos. She has two children with her ex-husband, Armie Hammer, and explained how she kept calm for them during the chaos.
She believes in being a steady presence for her kids, saying, “If the captain of the plane is panicking, the passengers are panicking.” She focused on honest conversations and reassurance.
Chambers is also doing her part to help wildfire victims through her charity, Cupcake for a Cause. She’s donating all proceeds from a special cupcake to the LA Fire Department until February 1.
The cupcake is a vanilla cake with strawberries and lemon buttercream, and she’s already sold a lot of them. Chambers noted that 90% of strawberries in the U.S. come from California, making the flavor meaningful. She’s determined to turn this tragedy into a chance to help others.
