Ed Reed, the former Ravens star, is now the offensive coordinator at Chamblee High School in Georgia, marking a new chapter in his coaching journey
He’s no stranger to Chamblee, having been on the sidelines during their playoff game last year. Plus, his son, Edward Reed III, plays there as a wide receiver and defensive back. It’s a family affair, with former Raven Jamal Lewis’ son also joining the team next season.
Reed has been involved in coaching since he retired from the NFL in 2015. He even signed a one-day contract to retire with the Ravens, where he spent 11 amazing seasons. He’s had coaching stints with the Buffalo Bills and the University of Miami, where he was a senior adviser until last year.
In late 2022, Reed was named head coach at Bethune-Cookman, but that didn’t pan out due to some controversy. He had a tough goodbye with his players, expressing his commitment to them.
Recently, he was in the running for the head coaching position at Alabama A&M, showing that there’s still a lot of interest in his coaching abilities. The trend of hiring former NFL stars for college coaching roles is growing, thanks to figures like Deion Sanders, who’s had great success at Jackson State and Colorado.
Even Reed’s old teammate Ray Lewis has been mentioned for coaching roles, though those rumors didn’t go anywhere. It’s an exciting time for Reed as he embarks on this new journey in high school football.
