On a recent episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Graham Norton surprised her by suggesting that she might be remembered more as a TV host than for her films. He asked which movies she would show to prove her acting chops.
Barrymore quickly thought of three films: Charlie’s Angels, E.T., and one with Sandler, though she wasn’t sure which to pick. She explained that E.T. taught her about building a family at work, while her films with Sandler offered a different lesson.
She said, “Sandler represents that romance can exist in many forms, not just sexual.” Barrymore loves stories that explore love in various relationships, like friendships or family bonds, and feels that’s how her connection with Sandler is.
When discussing Charlie’s Angels, she emphasized the importance of equality, stating that girls should be able to do everything boys can without tearing them down. She loves men and believes in equal opportunities for everyone.
However, Barrymore isn’t planning to return to acting anytime soon. She told Norton that her kids need her more than ever, and she wants to be there for them. The unpredictable schedule of filming just doesn’t fit into her life right now.
