Anthony Weaver is a finalist for the Saints’ head coaching position, with a second interview scheduled soon
Weaver is one of the finalists for the job, and the Saints are also checking out other candidates like Mike Kafka from the Giants and Aaron Glenn from the Lions. It’s a competitive scene out there!
Earlier this offseason, Weaver had chats with both the Saints and the Bears. Last year, he was in the running for jobs with the Commanders and Falcons before stepping up as the Dolphins’ defensive coordinator after Vic Fangio left for the Eagles.
If Weaver lands this gig, it would mean the Dolphins need to find yet another defensive coordinator. That would be the fourth one in four years! Coach Mike McDaniel has had to deal with a lot of changes since he took over.
Despite the Dolphins finishing 8-9 last season and missing the playoffs, Weaver’s defense ranked pretty well overall. They were fourth in total defense and did well against both the pass and the run. However, they struggled a bit with big plays, sitting 27th in sacks and takeaways.
Still, Weaver is well-respected in the league, and players and coaches alike think highly of him. It’ll be interesting to see how this all plays out!
