Escape the winter gloom at Manchester’s Museum of Illusions, a fun-filled experience for all ages that will leave you amazed.
Manchester: January can feel a bit dull after all the holiday excitement, right? But guess what? There’s a fantastic spot to shake off those winter blues!
The Museum of Illusions just opened on Market Street, and it’s a total game-changer. We checked it out on New Year’s Eve, and wow, it was mind-blowing!
This place used to be a Sports Direct store, but now it’s filled with interactive exhibits that mix science with fun. It’s the first UK branch of this popular museum chain, and it’s already making waves.
As soon as you walk in, you’re hit with all sorts of optical illusions and immersive experiences. There’s something for everyone, from cool holograms to entire rooms that play tricks on your mind.
One of the coolest parts? The Building Illusion! You can pose like a superhero, and my little one was all dressed up as Spiderman, pretending to climb a drainpipe while I dangled my husband over a balcony. It was hilarious!
Then there’s the Vortex Tunnel, which had my seven-year-old gripping the sides like he was on a rollercoaster. We were both convinced we were flipping upside down, and we couldn’t stop laughing!
This place isn’t just about fun; it’s educational too. They explain how each exhibit works, like the Ames Room that messes with your perception of size and shape.
It’s not your typical dusty museum; it’s lively and interactive. The Reversed Room is another highlight, creating a tram-inspired illusion that’s just wild.
Even though it was busy when we went, it was easy to navigate through the exhibits. Some had short queues, but they moved quickly, and we wrapped up our visit in about an hour.
Tickets start at £17.50, and while you can walk in, it’s best to book ahead for your preferred time slot at moimanchester.com.
