New York: A recent study by SmartAsset shows which counties in New York are the best for your paycheck. They looked at factors like how much money you make, what you can buy with it, and job growth.

Nassau County tops the list with a score of 68.89. Here, your dollar stretches further, with a purchasing power of 1.65. The unemployment rate is 3.6%, and income is growing at 5.4%.

Suffolk County isn’t far behind, scoring 66.09 and a purchasing power of 1.52. The unemployment rate is 3.9%, and income growth is at 5.7%.

Next up is Saratoga County, which has a score of 66.05. It boasts a purchasing power of 1.52 and an unemployment rate of 3.2%, with income growth at 4.6%.

Rensselaer County scored 64.50, with a purchasing power of 1.43. The unemployment rate here is 3.7%, and income growth is at 5.8%.

Westchester County, home to places like White Plains and Yonkers, scored 64.42. Its purchasing power is 1.49, with an unemployment rate of 4.1% and income growth at 5.0%.

Other notable mentions include Columbia County, Herkimer County, Dutchess County, Genesee County, and Orange County, rounding out the top ten.

Even though these counties are the best in New York for paycheck friendliness, Nassau and Suffolk are lower on the national list, ranked 985 and 1,257, respectively.

Interestingly, five of the top ten paycheck-friendly counties in the U.S. are in Texas, with Winkler County taking the top spot. North Dakota and South Dakota also have counties in the mix.
