A disabled man is hospitalized after falling down stairs due to broken elevators at Parc Riverside in D.C.

Residents had already raised concerns about the elevators just two days before. Jonathan Lubecky, who lives there, mentioned that his neighbor tried to climb the stairs after waiting for the elevator for about 30 minutes.
It’s pretty ironic, right? They were just talking about how dangerous the situation was. Lubecky said the man fell while trying to get up a flight of stairs. Last he heard, the guy was still in the hospital.
WUSA9 had been there earlier, chatting with residents who were worried about the broken elevators. According to D.C.’s Department of Buildings, at least one elevator needs to be working to meet the code.
They even got complaints about the elevators at that address and issued an Emergency Notice of Infraction. The management company, Bozzuto, claimed that one elevator was working while the other two were being fixed.
But residents say the elevators keep breaking down, even after repairs. Lubecky pointed out that for someone able-bodied, having two out of three elevators down might be a hassle, but for someone disabled, it’s a serious issue. WUSA9 is still waiting to hear back from Bozzuto about the injured resident.
