Washington: So, DirecTV is rolling out this new MySports bundle, and it’s all about sports. They’re starting with 40 channels, which is pretty cool. It’s launching in 24 markets, including big cities like New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. If you’re in those areas, you’ll get your local ABC, NBC, and Fox channels too.

Vince Torres, the marketing guy at DirecTV, mentioned they’ve been working on this for over a year. They really wanted to know what viewers wanted and made deals with big names like Disney and Fox to get the right content.

The bundle features popular channels like ESPN, Fox Sports, and even networks for the NFL and NBA. They’re planning to add more local stations as they finalize agreements. However, CBS channels aren’t part of this package yet.

They’re also including some free ad-supported channels and plan to add ESPN+ and other direct-to-consumer options later on. This announcement comes right after Venu Sports, a joint venture for sports streaming, decided to back out.

Last year, DirecTV had a bit of a tussle with Disney over a new agreement, but they’ve managed to work things out. A recent poll showed that a lot of sports fans—78%—prefer smaller channel bundles, so this seems like a smart move.

The MySports bundle is priced at $49.99 for the first three months, which is a steal compared to their other packages that start at $86.99 for over 90 channels. Sounds like a good deal for sports lovers!
