Director Shares Insights on Jamie Foxx’s Health During ‘Back in Action’ Shoot

Gordon got the call that Jamie wouldn’t be coming to work just as they were gearing up for a shoot. It was a real bummer, especially since they were all excited about the movie. It was supposed to be a fun action comedy with Jamie and Cameron Diaz, who was making her comeback after eight years.

While everyone was worried about Jamie, they had to keep filming. Gordon said they shot some scenes with body doubles and even changed a few things in the script. He was determined to make it work, but he never thought about recasting Jamie.

Finally, after months of uncertainty, Jamie returned to the set, and everyone was over the moon. He was cracking jokes and seemed like his old self. They resumed filming in January 2024, and Gordon was thrilled to have him back.
