Diogo Jota’s clever comment led to a quick goal for Liverpool against Nottingham Forest, showcasing their teamwork.
Both players came on as substitutes in the second half, and just two seconds after the restart, Jota headed in Tsimikas’ corner to equalize. This was their second goal together in an away match against Forest, having previously connected in an FA Cup quarter-final back in 2022.
Jota shared that he mentioned the old goal to Tsimikas as they were getting ready to play. He told TNT Sports, “I said, let’s recreate that assist, take the corner,” and it worked perfectly. He felt good about the goal but wished they could have won the match.
Jota’s entry really boosted Liverpool’s game, and he had a few chances to score more. He said, “I love to score goals, and I got one with my first touch, which helped the team.” He also praised Forest’s goalkeeper, Matz Sels, for making some great saves.
Reflecting on Liverpool’s unbeaten away record this season, Jota noted, “It’s a long way to go. Every match is tough, and we wanted the win.”
