Didsbury Rugby Club is working hard to recover from severe flood damage and is seeking community support for repairs

Didsbury: The Didsbury Toc H Rugby Club is in the thick of it after the New Year’s Day floods caused a lot of damage. They’ve shared an update about their cleanup efforts and fundraising plans.
So, here’s the scoop: they’re still dealing with standing water in the changing rooms and car park, which is holding up the cleanup. It’s been nearly two weeks since the floods, and they can’t start until that’s sorted.
The water rose over a meter high, leading to serious damage to the changing rooms, storage areas, clubhouse, and fields. Unfortunately, they couldn’t get insurance to cover this level of damage, which makes things tougher.
Now, they’re raising funds to tackle the repairs. This includes cleaning up debris, rebuilding damaged structures, and fixing up the car park and playing fields. They’ve got a lot on their plate!
In a recent Facebook post, they mentioned they can’t start cleanup as planned because of the lingering water. But there’s a silver lining—they’ve finally accessed the clubhouse and are checking for safety.
They’re hoping to kick off the cleanup by Monday, but they’re being cautious due to safety concerns. The club is really grateful for all the support from the community, which has been amazing during this tough time.
If anyone wants to help out, they can donate through their fundraising page. Every little bit counts!
