Multiple protests are planned in Washington, D.C. around Trump’s second inauguration, with thousands expected to attend various events.
This time, though, things feel a bit different. Trump’s win last year has kind of taken the wind out of the sails for some of the protests. But don’t think the streets will be quiet. There are several events lined up, and organizers are expecting big crowds.
For starters, on Saturday, January 18, there’s the People’s March on Washington. They’re anticipating around 50,000 folks at Freedom Plaza and the Washington Monument. The Women’s March is involved again, and it all kicks off at 10 AM from various parks, ending at the Lincoln Memorial.
Then, on Sunday, January 19, there’s a Trump “victory rally” at Capital One Arena at 3 PM. If you want to go, you can register online.
On Monday, January 20, things heat up with the Answer Coalition’s National Day of Action starting at 11 AM at Malcolm X Park. They’ll have a rally and a march. Also on that day, Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network is holding a demonstration at McPherson Square at 10:30 AM, marching to Metropolitan AME Church at noon, expecting about 1,500 attendees.
Finally, on Friday, January 24, the National March for Life will take place at noon at the Washington Monument, with a march to the Supreme Court afterward. They’re expecting a whopping 150,000 people this year.
It’s definitely going to be an eventful time in D.C. with all these protests and rallies happening!
