Dayton: A tragic incident unfolded in early November when a double shooting left a man and woman dead. The coroner’s office has now ruled it a homicide and suicide.

Emily Stovall, just 23, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene on November 7. The coroner confirmed her death was a homicide.

Jacob Osterhaus, 25, was also found dead at the same location, and his death was ruled a suicide.

Dayton police have labeled the incident a murder-suicide, but the investigation is still ongoing.

Police responded to a call about the shooting around 1 p.m. on that fateful day. Officers arrived at the 1600 block of Russet Avenue and discovered both victims with gunshot wounds.

Maj. Jason Hall shared that sadly, both individuals succumbed to their injuries right there.

A 911 caller reported seeing a woman outside the house, crying for help, but couldn’t confirm if she was breathing or if there was a shooter present.

Hall mentioned that everyone at the scene was accounted for, and they weren’t searching for any suspects. It’s a heartbreaking situation for the community.
