A father donates his kidney to a young girl, seeing a reflection of his own lost daughter in her

Tadcaster: A dad named Andy Emmott, 55, stepped up to donate his kidney to an 11-year-old girl named Amber. She reminded him so much of his own daughter, Sarah, who sadly passed away at just eight years old.
Andy didn’t think twice when he learned Amber needed a kidney. He felt a strong connection, especially since he had gone through a similar situation with Sarah, who had a transplant but lost her battle with congenital nephrotic syndrome.
Before Sarah’s passing, her transplant campaign even got a boost from Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips. Sadly, Sarah only lived for a year after the transplant.
Andy shared, “I donated a kidney because a kind stranger donated one to my daughter. Seeing Amber’s appeal brought back so many memories, and I just had to help.” Luckily, he was a perfect match for her.
Now recovering, Andy is back at work at Northern Powergrid, doing office tasks while he heals. His manager, Amanda White, expressed how incredible it is for someone to donate a kidney, especially after losing a child.
She noted that Sarah’s spirit is still very much alive in Andy’s home, with photos everywhere showing her bright smile. It’s clear how much love surrounded her, and it’s heartwarming to see Andy help another little girl after his loss.
As a way to honor Sarah, Andy has been actively raising funds for Theodora Children’s Charity, which supported his daughter during her hospital stays. He emphasized how much joy the charity brought to Sarah during tough times.
Andy encourages others to support the charity, as they often struggle to get the recognition they deserve compared to larger organizations. Every little bit helps!
