Heartless thieves targeted evacuated homes in Los Angeles, stealing valuables and even an Emmy during the wildfires

The footage shows these guys in gray sweats, casually strolling through a fancy house in the Palisades, which is worth about $34 million. They took stuff worth over $200,000. One of the suspects, Travon Coleman, 27, got into a car crash while trying to escape from the cops.
Three people were arrested for that break-in, and one was armed. Plus, six more were charged for looting homes in Altadena due to the Eaton Fire. One of the stolen items was an Emmy, but we don’t know who it belonged to. Thankfully, the cops caught the suspects and got the award back.
Coleman and another suspect, Martrell Peoples, 22, could face life in prison if they’re found guilty. The LA District Attorney, Nathan Hochman, made it clear that if you commit these crimes, you will get caught.
He called these acts appalling, especially during such a tough time for the community. The California National Guard was even called in to help prevent looting and support emergency services.
With the wildfires causing massive destruction and loss of life, police have already made over 40 arrests related to the chaos. Charges range from burglary to impersonating an officer. LAPD Assistant Chief Blake Chow reassured residents that they’re on it and won’t let anyone get away with this.
