East Lancashire: The councils have been busy sorting out the mess from the recent cold snap that messed up bin collections. A lot of folks missed their pickups because of the icy weather.

Hyndburn Council is on it, adding extra crews to catch up on the missed collections from last week. They’re asking everyone to leave their waste and recycling at the usual spot.

They mentioned that if your bin wasn’t collected last week, just leave it out on your regular collection day. They’re hoping the weather will cooperate this week.

Pendle Council has been keeping track of the changes day by day. They noted that Nelson and Colne had it particularly rough with the icy conditions. Bins weren’t collected on Saturday, January 11.

They’re asking residents to hang tight and take their bins in if they can until the next collection. They’ve got a plan for the upcoming days to catch up.

On Tuesday, January 14, they’ll be collecting in parts of Nelson and doing recycling in Barnoldswick and nearby areas. They’ll also catch up on missed collections in Colne and Trawden.

By Wednesday and Thursday, they’re hoping to be back on track if the weather improves. They’ll resume normal collections and remind everyone to bring their bins back in after they’re emptied.

Blackburn Council is also asking people to leave their bins out if they weren’t emptied last week. They’re working hard to catch up, but the icy roads have made it tough.

Good news is, the weather looks better this week, so their teams will be out every day to get those bins emptied.

Rossendale Council mentioned that their schedules might be off for a few days due to the snow and freezing temps. They’re trying to collect where it’s safe, but some areas might still face delays.

They appreciate everyone’s patience and ask that you leave your bins out until they can collect them. They’ll even take extra side waste during the delays.

Ribble Valley Council had issues with frozen bins last week, but they’re planning to collect those this week. They explained that when it gets really cold, the contents can freeze and won’t empty properly.

Burnley Council is deploying extra resources to catch up on missed collections. They’re aiming to have everything sorted by the end of the day on Friday, January 17.

They apologized for the delays and asked residents to leave their bins out for collection. They’re doing their best to get back on schedule.
