Billionaires face a tough decision: attend Trump’s inauguration or Davos’ first day

Going to the inauguration could mean rubbing elbows with Trump and his crew. But then again, missing out on Davos means skipping a chance to network with global leaders and business moguls.
The timing is tricky. Trump’s swearing-in is at noon ET, while Davos kicks off its first session at 3 p.m. local time. With Davos being six hours ahead, there’s no way to do both in person, even if you had a private jet.
Big names like Meta, Amazon, and Google have all chipped in a million bucks for Trump’s inauguration. For these companies, attending could be a smart move, especially since Trump has been pretty critical of Big Tech before.
Those who donated big bucks usually get some sweet perks, like prime seats at the inauguration and access to fancy events. But some donors might miss out on VIP treatment since some events are already full.
As the day approaches, we’ll see who heads to D.C. It looks like Elon Musk might be one of them, given his close ties to Trump and his past digs at Davos.
There’s also buzz about a black-tie reception co-hosted by Mark Zuckerberg, which has been making the rounds on social media.
For those who do choose the inauguration, they can still catch a lot of what happens at Davos since it runs until January 24.
