Wilmington: Every year on January 20, we remember Martin Luther King Jr. and his fight for justice. His work against inequality and poverty still inspires us today.

In Delaware, MLK Day is all about honoring his legacy. People come together for marches, speeches, and volunteer work. Museums and community groups also host special events.

Here are some events you might want to check out:

West Side Grows Together is hosting their 13th annual MLK Day Clean Up, Peace March, and Celebration on January 20 from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Jefferson Street Center in Wilmington. At the Delaware Art Museum, there’s an MLK Day of Service on January 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It’s a free event with music, a time capsule project, and a keynote address. They’re also collecting school supplies for local students, so bring what you can!

Lastly, don’t miss the Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice on February 28 at 7 p.m. for an inspirational musical celebration at Epworth United Methodist Church in Rehoboth Beach. Tickets are $25, and the proceeds support their important work.
