CCTV footage shows a machete being brandished at two men during a street altercation in Wigan, raising concerns among local residents.
The footage shows one guy sprinting down the street, and right behind him is another dude in black, brandishing the machete. It was around 9:51 PM when this all happened. The guy in the lighter top is running for his life, and at one point, he trips and falls into the road, throwing his hands up to protect himself.
Then, things get even crazier. Another man in dark clothing jumps into the mix, and it looks like the machete-wielding guy actually strikes the first victim. The second guy steps back, clearly scared, as the machete is aimed at him too.
After that, the first guy manages to escape the scene, but the machete is still pointed at the second man. The police were called right after the altercation, but thankfully, no one got hurt.
Local councillor Maureen O’Bern is pretty worried about this whole situation. She reached out to the police, saying residents are anxious about these machete attacks happening on Darlington Street. She’s calling for an urgent meeting because she fears it’s only a matter of time before someone gets seriously hurt.
The Greater Manchester Police confirmed they got reports of the altercation and sent officers to check it out, but luckily, there were no injuries reported. They’re still looking into what happened.
