The iconic apartment will soon have a gate to deter intrusive fans and tourists

The brownstone at 66 Perry Street has been a hotspot for “Sex and the City” fans, but some visitors have crossed the line. There have been reports of trespassing, vandalism, and just plain old noise complaints from the neighbors.
Barbara has had enough of the chaos. She filed a request with the city to install a gate at the bottom of her steps. In her words, her home has turned into a “global tourist destination.” She’s tired of groups taking photos, chatting loudly, and even ringing her doorbell at all hours.
Some fans have even gone as far as painting on her steps and carving their names into her door frame. After years of hoping the hype would die down, she realized a gate was necessary for her peace of mind.
The good news? Her proposal for the gate was approved, but the city wants her to tweak the design a bit. The building itself is historic, built in 1866, and Barbara has owned it since 1978. It’s about time she gets some peace and quiet!
