New York: So, the famous brownstone where Carrie Bradshaw lived in “Sex and the City” is getting a gate. The Landmarks Preservation Commission just approved it. Barbara Lorber, the owner since 1978, is tired of all the tourists hanging around.

She shared her feelings with the commission, saying she hoped for this change for decades. The stoop has been chained off with a “no trespassing” sign, but that hasn’t stopped fans from showing up.

Eight commission members agreed that a gate is necessary for the historic West Village area. Lorber’s architect will now work on the design.

“Sex and the City” ran for six seasons starting in 1998, following Carrie and her friends. Interestingly, while Carrie lived on the Upper East Side in the show, the actual filming location is in Greenwich Village.

A tourist from Australia, Anthony Gillbee, took a photo in front of the brownstone with his son. He gets why the owner wants privacy but thinks a gate would change the place’s vibe. It’s a classic spot, after all!
