A Callicoon man faces serious charges after allegedly shooting at a couple’s car during a dispute in Fremont, according to state police.
Fremont: So, here’s the scoop. A guy named John Paterno, 51, from Callicoon, got into a heated argument with a couple on Sunday afternoon. It all went down near his home on Warner Road. Things got pretty intense, and after some shouting and shoving, the couple decided to leave.
But Paterno wasn’t done. He hopped into his Ford Fusion and followed them. Then, out of nowhere, he fired several shots at their Honda CRV! Can you believe that? The cars ended up colliding, and thankfully, no one was seriously hurt.
After the chaos, the couple split, and someone called the cops. They found Paterno at his place and arrested him without any fuss. He’s facing some heavy charges, including reckless endangerment and illegal possession of a weapon.
He was taken to court and is now sitting in jail, waiting for his next hearing. The bail is set pretty high, so he’s going to be there for a bit. The police did find the gun he used, too. It’s a wild story, and it sounds like there’s more to the argument that we don’t know yet.
