The Calgary Public Library has restored full services following a data breach, ensuring all systems are back online for patrons.

They shared that getting back on track involved a three-step plan. Their tech teams worked hard to restore over 2,000 systems across 22 locations in just 10 weeks.
First, they focused on getting secure staff networks up and running. Then, they brought back some digital services. Finally, they completed the restoration of all technology services.
The library also took this chance to enhance their digital offerings. They plan to roll out new public desktop computer access software in early 2025.
As they wrap up this recovery journey, they gave a shout-out to their amazing Technology Team. They really pulled through, restoring all those systems in record time.
The data breach back in October had forced the library to close for several days, and when they reopened, services were limited. Patrons could check out books but couldn’t return them for months.
Fortunately, the library confirmed that no data was compromised during the attempted ransomware attack, which their systems successfully blocked.
