Multiple businesses in KCK were burglarized, leaving owners shaken and considering their future
Places like Sagebrush Rosedale and the Garden House Cafe were among those targeted. By late Monday morning, the Garden House had boarded up its door, but positive messages were still visible.
KCK Police Captain Joshua Messick shared that it’s alarming to see so many break-ins at once. Just down the road, Los Caporales Mexican Restaurant and Posada’s Pizzeria also fell victim to the same group of burglars.
Yilena Ruiz, the owner of Posada’s, described her feelings after the incident. She said it was a tough day but is feeling better now. Just a few months ago, her restaurant was hit by a bullet, making this latest incident even more distressing.
Ruiz is now considering moving her business, saying the area doesn’t feel safe anymore. Captain Messick believes the same group is behind all the break-ins, as they occurred around the same time.
In addition to the KCK businesses, two more in Kansas City, Missouri were also targeted. Messick mentioned that the police departments from both cities work together to share information about these crimes.
As of now, no suspects are in custody for any of the burglaries. The KCKPD is urging residents in the area to check their security cameras for any suspicious activity from 4 a.m. to 7 a.m. on Sunday. If anyone has information, they can reach out to the non-emergency line.
