Jalen Brunson ties Carmelo Anthony with 17 games scoring 40 points for the Knicks
Only Patrick Ewing and Bernard King have more 40-point games than Brunson. Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau praised Brunson, saying it’s a testament to his talent and humility.
Brunson’s 183rd game with the Knicks was a big one, especially since the team needed a win after a tough loss to the Thunder. He started strong, scoring 23 points in the first quarter.
He did have to leave the game briefly due to a shoulder stinger but came back to score 12 more points. After the game, he felt great and emphasized the importance of playing well as a team.
Brunson has been a key player for the Knicks, often stepping up when needed. He’s had some impressive games this season, including a 55-point outing against Washington.
Thibodeau noted that Brunson’s happiness comes from winning, no matter how many points he scores. With Ewing and King both being Hall of Famers, Brunson is in elite company.
He’s in his third season with the Knicks and recently signed a big contract extension. Currently, he’s averaging 25.5 points and 7.5 assists per game, making him a strong candidate for the All-Star game. His teammate, Josh Hart, believes he deserves to be a starter.
