JD Vance will be sworn in by his wife’s former boss, Justice Brett Kavanaugh, during the inauguration on January 20.

The inauguration is set for January 20, and it’s a big deal. Vance, who used to be a senator from Ohio, will be taking the oath alongside President-elect Donald Trump. It’s been quite a journey for him, especially since he just joined the Senate two years ago.
Usha Vance, JD’s wife, actually clerked for Kavanaugh when he was on the D.C. Circuit. They met at Yale Law School, and she’s had a pretty impressive legal career, even working under Chief Justice John Roberts. After JD got the VP nod, she stepped down from her job as a litigator.
It’s interesting to note that Kavanaugh joined the Supreme Court in 2018 after a pretty intense confirmation process. There were some serious allegations against him, but he denied everything. Usha mentioned in an interview that Kavanaugh was a great boss who appreciated people from all political backgrounds. She also talked about how his wife handled the public scrutiny during that tough time.
Usha said it was hard to watch Kavanaugh go through that, but it gave them a glimpse of what they might face in the future. It’s definitely a unique situation for them as they step into this new chapter.
