A bomb threat at Wheat Ridge High School caused an early dismissal of students and a police investigation into a teenage girl.
The Wheat Ridge Police got a tip from the FBI about a threat on social media around 9:15 a.m. They acted fast, evacuating students just before 11:15 a.m. to keep everyone safe.
Special teams, including bomb-sniffing dogs from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Colorado State Patrol, searched the school but thankfully found no explosives.
A spokesperson mentioned that many students live close enough to walk home, which made things a bit easier. Parents were informed and asked to pick up their kids before the police shared updates on social media around 11:28 a.m.
As for the girl, police are still deciding whether to press charges. They’re looking into the possibility of false reporting of explosives, which is a serious matter.
