Bill Maher insists he won’t leave his show, despite expressing frustration over covering Trump.

Los Angeles: Bill Maher isn’t going anywhere. Recently, he stirred up some buzz by saying he might quit Real Time with Bill Maher because he’s tired of talking about Donald Trump. But when CNN’s Jake Tapper asked him about it, Maher made it clear he’s not retiring anytime soon.
He said, “I have a podcast, I have a television show. I’m not retiring. They’re going to have to drag me off of that show.” Maher had previously told Jane Fonda on his podcast that he’s covered Trump extensively and feels he’s done enough. He mentioned he was one of the first to call Trump a con man and predict he wouldn’t concede the election.
When Tapper pressed him, Maher explained he doesn’t want to cover another Trump term. He’s already made all the jokes he can think of. But he also acknowledged that Trump will likely give him new material to work with.
Maher joked about wanting new characters in the “episodic television show that is America.” On another note, he shared that he’s stepping back from stand-up comedy. He loves it but is tired of touring. He had mentioned to Jerry Seinfeld that he’d stop after this year, but he’s open to returning.
Mark your calendars: Real Time with Bill Maher Season 23 kicks off on January 17.
