Bill Belichick transitions to college football, coaching UNC after a legendary NFL career

Chapel Hill: Bill Belichick is shaking things up by moving to college football. He’s now the head coach for the University of North Carolina’s football team.
Even though he’s got no college coaching experience, he’s a big name in the NFL with eight Super Bowl wins under his belt. That’s pretty impressive!
Belichick has a lot on his plate for his first season. Last year, UNC finished with a 6-6 record, which isn’t exactly stellar. They need to step it up.
They haven’t won a postseason game since 2019, but they have a chance to change that soon. They’re set to play UConn in the Fenway Bowl on December 28.
So, who will Belichick and his team be facing in the upcoming season? Let’s check out the 2025 schedule.
- Aug. 30: vs. TCU
- Sept. 6: at Charlotte
- Sept. 13: vs. Richmond
- Sept. 20: at UCF
- Date TBA: vs. Clemson
- Date TBA: vs. Duke
- Date TBA: vs. Stanford
- Date TBA: vs. Virginia
- Date TBA: at California
- Date TBA: at N.C. State
- Date TBA: at Syracuse
- Date TBA: at Wake Forest
TCU and UCF might give them a run for their money, but neither had a standout season last year. The big game will be against Clemson, but luckily, it’s at home.
They won’t have to face some tough teams like Miami or Florida State, which is a relief. The only tough opponents from last season’s top six in the ACC are Clemson and Syracuse.
For Patriots fans, it’s a bummer that UNC won’t play Boston College until 2028, and that game will be in Chapel Hill.
Overall, the 2025 schedule isn’t too brutal, but Belichick needs to boost the roster. He’ll have to work hard to bring in some top talent through recruiting and the transfer portal.
