President Biden’s new executive order aims to fast-track AI infrastructure projects across the U.S.
The order tells the Departments of Defense and Energy to lease federal land to private companies for building AI data centers. Plus, it insists that these developers use clean energy to power their operations.

He stated, “Today, I’m signing an historic Executive Order to speed up the building of next-gen AI infrastructure in America.” This is crucial for keeping the U.S. competitive and secure in the AI space.
Industry leaders are saying that for AI companies to thrive, we need a massive build-out of infrastructure. They need expensive data centers and clean energy to train and run new models sustainably.
Biden also pointed out the importance of self-sufficiency, saying, “We will not let America be out-built when it comes to the technology that will define our future.”
This executive order is likely to give a boost to private companies eager to invest in AI infrastructure. Recently, Microsoft and BlackRock announced a $30 billion megafund aimed at enhancing American competitiveness in AI.
SoftBank’s Masayoshi Son also pledged to invest $100 billion in AI infrastructure in the U.S. over the next four years. It looks like the race for AI is heating up!
