The Chicago Bears are looking to interview Marcus Freeman, the Notre Dame coach, as they seek a new head coach amid NFL changes.

Freeman is set to lead Notre Dame against Ohio State in the College Football Playoff national championship game on January 20. But, according to NFL Network, he’s probably not going to entertain any NFL offers while he’s focused on that big game.
The Bears have been doing their homework on Freeman for months now. He’s had a solid run as head coach, boasting a 33-9 record since taking over in 2021. He started this season with a loss but could finish strong with a national title and maybe a new job in Illinois.
Did you know Notre Dame has over 20,000 alumni in the Chicago area? That’s a big connection! Plus, Bears president Kevin Warren has ties to Notre Dame from his time as Big Ten commissioner.
Freeman actually played for the Bears back in 2009, though he didn’t get to play in any games. After bouncing around a bit in the NFL, he found his calling in coaching.
The Bears are in a bit of a rush since they lost out on another candidate, Mike Vrabel, who just got hired by the Patriots. They’ve already lined up interviews with several other candidates, including some big names.
As for the game, Notre Dame is a 9.5-point underdog against Ohio State. It’s going to be an exciting matchup!
