Leicester: So, the BBC just announced that Alan Shearer and Micah Richards are sticking around as pundits for Match of the Day. This comes after Gary Lineker decided to step down after 25 years.

Lineker, who’s been the face of the show since 1999, will still be with the BBC until after the 2026 World Cup, but he won’t be hosting Match of the Day anymore. Starting next season, they’ll have a rotation of hosts.

Kelly Cates, Mark Chapman, and Gabby Logan will take turns presenting the show, which is a first for Match of the Day. Shearer and Richards will keep their roles as regular pundits, which is great news for fans.

BBC Sport director Alex Kay-Jelski praised the new trio, saying viewers will love their coverage. He also acknowledged Lineker’s incredible contribution over the years and mentioned some exciting new shows coming up for the 2025-26 season.

It sounds like there are some big changes ahead, but it’s all about keeping the football conversation lively and engaging for everyone!
