The Avalanche faced another shutout in Winnipeg, losing 3-0 to the Jets in a tough matchup

This was the second time Colorado faced the Jets at Canada Life Centre this season, and once again, they couldn’t find the back of the net. It’s tough to watch when you know they scored 17 goals in this building during the playoffs last year.
The Avs were on a bit of a road trip, playing their third game in four nights. The Jets, on the other hand, were fresh off a back-to-back at home. You could see the difference, especially in the second period when the Avs struggled to create chances.
Their top players seemed a bit off, passing too much instead of shooting. Winnipeg’s defense was solid, making it hard for Colorado to get good looks. Hellebuyck had a clear view on most shots, and rebound chances were few and far between.
This loss was a big deal in the Central Division. The Jets now have an eight-point lead over the Avs, who were hoping to close the gap. They’ll have one more shot at the Jets on January 22 at home, and they really need that win.
It was another tough night in Manitoba. The game started rough, with Nikolaj Ehlers scoring just over a minute in. It felt like déjà vu since the last time they played in Winnipeg, the Jets scored early too.
Mackenzie Blackwood, the Avalanche’s goalie, settled down after that first goal. He faced some tough shots but managed to make 26 saves. If this is a “down” game for him, the team can’t be too upset.
The Avs had some control early on but couldn’t capitalize. The Jets outshot them and had way more high-danger chances. It was a missed opportunity for Colorado, especially against a tired team.
Mark Scheifele had a golden chance when the Avs lost track of him near the net. It was a classic case of leaving a dangerous player open, and he made them pay.
The Avalanche had two power plays but couldn’t convert. They generated some shots but ended up with nothing again. It’s been five games without a power-play goal, which is a real bummer considering they were starting to look better.
