Despite a power-play slump, Avalanche coach Jared Bednar remains confident in his team’s ability to bounce back and find success.

Cale Makar, the Avs defenseman, mentioned they need to get back to their earlier mindset. He believes they should focus on getting shots on goal instead of overthinking their plays.
In the past few seasons, the Oilers have had the best power play in the NHL, while the Avalanche were right behind them. But now, the Avs have dropped to 17th in power-play efficiency, even though they still rank 10th in total goals scored.
When the power play fails to score and gives up a shorthanded goal, it can look bad. Coach Bednar isn’t too worried, though. He pointed out that the team is still winning games, with a record of 9-2-1 in their last 12.
He acknowledged that the power play needs improvement but emphasized that they are finding other ways to win. Bednar noted that the team has had execution issues and needs to be more aggressive.
Injuries have also played a role in the power-play struggles, with key players like Valeri Nichushkin out. However, the Avalanche have plenty of talent to fill those gaps.
Makar believes that with better communication and execution, the power play can return to being a strong asset for the team. He remains optimistic that they will turn things around soon.
