Auburn: The Tigers have made a big leap to No. 1 in the AP men’s basketball poll. They snagged 60 out of 62 first-place votes after Tennessee lost to Florida. This is Auburn’s second time at the top, with their first being back in early 2022.

They’ve only lost once this season, and that was to Duke. Right now, they’re on an eight-game winning streak. However, there’s some concern about star player Johni Broome, who got hurt in the last game against South Carolina.

The SEC is really showing its strength, with nine teams in the Top 25. Iowa State is now at No. 2, which is their highest ranking ever. Duke, Alabama, and Florida round out the top five.

Tennessee, who was No. 1 for a while, dropped to No. 6 after a rough loss. Marquette stayed steady at No. 7, while Kentucky and Kansas are also in the top 10.

On the flip side, Illinois took a hit, falling to No. 19 after losing to Southern California. UConn also dropped five spots to No. 14.

New to the rankings this week are Georgia, Wisconsin, and Baylor. Georgia hasn’t been in the Top 25 since 2011, so this is a big deal for them. They’ve had some impressive wins lately, including against ranked teams.

West Virginia and UCLA fell out of the rankings this week, joining Oklahoma. The SEC continues to dominate with nine ranked teams, while the Big Ten follows with six. It’s shaping up to be an exciting season!
