Arsenal is nearing a deal for Martin Zubimendi, who may join in summer after Liverpool’s failed attempt and Manchester City links

Liverpool had their eyes on Zubimendi last summer but couldn’t get him. Manchester City was also linked to him, but it looks like Arsenal will win this race.
Initially, it seemed like Zubimendi would head to Liverpool, becoming the first signing under new manager Arne Slot. However, he decided to stay with Real Sociedad for now.
Arsenal is eager to keep up with Liverpool in the Premier League title chase. They’ve been struggling with injuries, especially up front, and Zubimendi would be a fantastic addition to their squad.
Mikel Arteta, who played for Real Sociedad, has wanted Zubimendi for over a year. He hopes to bring him in January, but Sociedad wants to keep him for the rest of the season.
This move seems to be more about the future for Arsenal. With Jorginho and Thomas Partey both out of contract soon, Zubimendi could be a great replacement.
Now a Spain international, Zubimendi looks set to join Arsenal. It’s unclear if they’ll make any immediate signings to boost the squad, but they’re prioritizing Zubimendi first.
Arteta has a couple of weeks to strengthen his team. With Gabriel Jesus injured and others like Bukayo Saka also sidelined, Arsenal needs more firepower to keep their title hopes alive.
Liverpool has had some ups and downs lately, especially defensively. Still, they’re doing well under Slot, competing on multiple fronts, even if they need to turn things around against Spurs in the Carabao Cup.
After missing out on Zubimendi, Liverpool opted for Ryan Gravenberch, who’s been impressive alongside Mac Allister and Szoboszlai.
Meanwhile, Manchester City has struggled since Rodri’s injury. Many thought Zubimendi would replace him, but it seems Arsenal is set to pull off this signing soon.
