Alberta is dispatching 40 wildland firefighters to Los Angeles to assist with ongoing wildfires, showcasing support for their neighbors.

Los Angeles: The Alberta government is stepping up to help with the wildfires in California. They’re sending supplies and crews to assist in the fight.
Minister Todd Loewen shared on social media that 40 wildland firefighters are on their way to L.A. to lend a hand.
He mentioned that the wildfires are really devastating, and Alberta wants to support their neighbors during this tough time.
Loewen has been in touch with Cal Fire and the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services to confirm Alberta’s readiness to help.
He also noted that they have additional firefighters and support staff ready to go if needed.
Alberta is also preparing water bombers, pilots, and night vision helicopters to assist in the firefighting efforts.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau even posted a video of a water bomber, emphasizing that Canadians are always ready to help their American friends.
Alberta isn’t alone in this; other provinces like Quebec and British Columbia are also sending water bombing crews to tackle the flames.
Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow announced that she’s putting 100 firefighters on standby without affecting city services.
Meanwhile, Ontario is sending around 165 urban firefighters and equipment to help prevent further damage.
At the federal level, Canada’s defense minister has approved sending the Royal Canadian Airforce to deploy 250 firefighters and equipment to California.
Emergency crews have been working hard since the wildfires broke out on January 7.
