A 19-year-old man was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of 17-year-old Antenio Louis in Akron, Ohio

Welch pleaded guilty to murder and felonious assault. Prosecutor Elliot Kolkovich expressed gratitude to the Akron Police Department for their hard work in holding Welch accountable for this tragic loss.
Antenio was a well-loved student and athlete. He was shot while riding in a car on East Glenwood Avenue. Another vehicle, driven by Welch, pulled in front and opened fire, killing Antenio and injuring the driver.
Welch isn’t the only one facing charges. Two others, Ahmere Williams and Khairi Moorer, are also charged in connection with Antenio’s death.
Looking ahead, Welch is set to plead guilty in another murder case soon, which could add another life sentence. He won’t be eligible for parole for at least 30 years across both cases. He’ll also have to register as a violent offender.
