Oren Alexander, a property broker, was denied bail as his lawyer’s claims about his new fatherhood were dismissed by the judge
Miami: Oren Alexander, a property broker, was denied bail by a Manhattan federal judge. His lawyer argued that the married new dad was no longer a threat because “there have been no more orgies!”
During a dramatic hearing, Judge Valerie Caproni also kept Oren’s twin brother Alon and older brother Tal in jail. They all face serious charges for allegedly drugging and raping numerous women over the years.
The lawyer, Richard Kluhe, insisted that Oren’s recent fatherhood meant he was no longer a danger. He claimed, “The danger of having an orgy is zero at this point.” But the judge wasn’t convinced.
Caproni pointed out that the evidence against the brothers was strong. She noted that the alleged assaults had been happening for years, not just a one-time incident.
Prosecutors revealed they had spoken to 40 women who accused at least one of the brothers of rape. Some victims reported being incapacitated after drinking what they thought was an alcoholic beverage.
The brothers allegedly used drugs to sedate their victims, luring them with promises of luxury accommodations. The judge denied their proposed $115 million bail package, dismissing the lawyers’ claims about lie-detector tests.
Caproni also criticized the defense’s arguments, calling them “nonsense.” She ordered the brothers to be transferred to a Brooklyn jail for their next court date.
Their parents, who co-founded a successful security firm, watched the proceedings from the gallery. Oren and Tal had previously built a luxury real estate firm, but now face serious legal troubles.
