The STARS Lottery in Edmonton kicks off with exciting prizes, including a dream home and more, supporting vital air ambulance services.

Edmonton: It was a heartfelt moment for Dave Fiala as he introduced the 40th annual STARS Lottery on Wednesday. This event means a lot to him.
Back in 2017, while biking in Jasper, he had a heart attack. He needed to be airlifted to Edmonton for urgent surgery. It was a close call.
“The surgeon told me I was extremely lucky that the surgery finished with no time to spare,” Fiala shared. He was really on the edge.
“He actually said he really doubted that I was going to make it when he started in.” It’s stories like his that show how crucial the funds from this lottery are for the air ambulance service.
This year’s grand prize includes a million-dollar home in Edmonton’s Griesbach neighborhood, plus homes in Calgary and Lethbridge. Pretty sweet, right?
“What’s new is it’s our 40th anniversary, so that’s a big thing for us, a moment to look back and look forward,” said Dr. John Froh, the new CEO of STARS air ambulance. They’re also using cool new tech like ultrasound and virtual care.
Tickets are on sale until March 27th, and there are other prizes too, like trips and a Porsche. The excitement is building!
