East Lancashire: Another weather warning has been issued, and it’s going to get really cold. We’re talking about temperatures dropping to minus 13 in some areas.

A yellow ice warning kicks in at 5 PM today and lasts until noon tomorrow. This warning covers all of East Lancashire, so keep an eye out.

With icy stretches expected, travel could be tricky. People are advised to watch for slippery patches and untreated roads. It’s a good idea to be careful to avoid slips and falls.

Even though it’s going to be cold, we can expect some sunshine. But don’t be fooled; the brisk wind will make it feel even chillier.

Wednesday is predicted to be the coldest day. In Blackburn, temperatures might drop to minus six, while Rossendale could see minus five.

The Ribble Valley is looking at minus nine, and Pendle could hit that chilling minus 13 mark, according to the Met Office.

In Rossendale, it could go down to minus 10, and Burnley might see minus eight. So, bundle up!

Jason Kelly, the chief forecaster at the Met Office, mentioned that the cold weather is sticking around this week, bringing several severe weather warnings for wintry conditions.

Snow showers are still expected in Scotland, Northern Ireland, and parts of northern England. If surface water and snow freeze overnight, we could see more ice as temperatures drop below freezing.

But hey, there will be some sunny spells for those away from the northern coasts, even if it still feels cold with that northern breeze.

There’s also an amber cold-health alert in place until January 12 at noon. This weather is likely to impact health and social care services significantly.

Earlier this week, snow caused school closures and a bit of chaos on the roads. As of now, no more snow is forecast for the rest of the week in East Lancashire.
