Easton: An 18-year-old man was taken into custody after a shooting at an apartment complex left a 16-year-old girl seriously hurt. This happened on Tuesday afternoon, and the girl is now in stable condition, but her injuries are still life-threatening.

The suspect, who lives in Brockton, hasn’t been named yet. He’s facing a charge for having a firearm, but they haven’t charged him for the shooting itself just yet. Easton Police Chief Keith Boone mentioned that they’ve gathered a lot of evidence, including two vehicles linked to the incident.

One of those vehicles was found in Mansfield, and the other in Brockton. When officers arrived at the Avalon apartment complex, they found the girl with a serious gunshot wound to her face. It was a tough scene for the responding officers.

Witnesses said that the people involved took off in a black SUV before the police got there. Investigators think this was a targeted shooting, and that the girl and the shooter knew each other. State police are now helping Easton police with the investigation.
